Ethiopia’s Tirunesh Dibaba won the women’s 10,000 meters Sunday at the world championships, making her move with about 500 meters to go and quickly pulling away from the rest of the pack.

Tirune shwon in 30 minutes, 43.35 seconds. Gladys Cherono of Kenya took silver and Belaynesh Oljira of Ethiopia won bronze.

Hitomi Niiya of Japan set the pace for much of the race, but Dibaba blew past her just before the bell lap and was never troubled again.
